Hair Mask: H'SUAN WEN HUA Review

My lovelies,

Hope you all are having an amazing week. For all my fellow Canadians, hope that you all enjoyed Canada Day and had a blast. To my American followers, hoping you all have a fun and safe July 4th weekend!!

Now lets get into it,

So today I'm going to be talking about this new product that I am pretty excited about.

Now my hair is extremely dry, like reallllllly dry.

But I think I have found a new product thats been helping me out a ton.

The H'Suan Wen Hua Hair Mask from Lush (don't ask me how the hell you pronounce that, sheesh)

Now this mask claims "A nutritious mask to improve the strength, shine, and condition of your hair and scalp", continually it states its a "intense moisturizing treatment with fresh eggs, herbs, and oils for out-of-condition hair". Which ya'll know I got.

Anyways the first thing I noticed about this mask is the smell. It is defiantly a warm smelling product that is relaxing for myself. It reminds me of gingerbread on Christmas. For some odd reason.

The consistency is thick and creamy and it glides onto your hair without making a massive mess, which was a plus for me.

Now, the feeling of this product on my scalp was amazing. When I first applied it, it didn't feel like much, however when it began to soak into my scalp it it had a nice cooling sensation. I left it on for a total of 25 minutes, just to make sure it was able to really soak into the hair follicles.

After rinsing it out in the shower, I went along with my normal hair care routine, minus the deep conditioning at the end.

When I styled my hair after I instantly noticed how soft, smooth and silky my hair was to the touch. I could not stop playing with it! My scalp felt hydrated and nourished and was not left itchy or dry.

This product helped my hair retain its moisture between washes.

In all, I was extremely pleased with this product. It was a tiny bit pricy (at $21 for 225g) , and I did have to use quite a bit because my hair is so long. However, it is completely worth it. The people at Lush continue to impress ;)

Ginger Locks

Hello all my lovelies! Sorry for the lack of posting, life just seems to be a tad crazy at the moment. So I've been a busy bee working everything out and starting new chapters in my life :)

Today I wanted to do a post on all the hair products that I absolutely adore. I get asked alot about my hair and what I use in it. But, by far the question that I get asked the most is, "Is that your natural hair color?"

Yes, yes it is kidlets. #gingerforlife

My hair, I would classify, as a darker strawberry blonde. It used to be a lot more vibrat when I was younger and as I aged the pigment has lightened up. I have blonde, brown, auburn and red strands in my hair, which is probably why I get asked if it is natural. In the summer it lightens alot, and the blonde will stick out. Not to mention that I have actual thick sections of my hair that are straight blonde.

In texture, my hair is thick and mildly frizzy with a natural beachy wave. I do straighten it about 98% of the time just because it is more manageable this way.

As per products, I've tried many on the market but these would have to be what really keep my hair soft and manageable.

SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER

Now I am always changing my shampoo and conditioner just because my hair tends to get used to these kind of products quickly. At the moment I'm using the Redken All Soft Shampoo/Conditioner. This stuff makes my hair unbelievably soft, even though I'm getting to the end of these bottles it doesn't seem that my hair is getting used to the formula.

DEEP CONDITIONING

For deep conditioners I rotate between Macadamia Deep Repair Mask, and the Aveda Dry Remedy. Both of these are phemonal and do the job. I do prefer the Macadamia one a tad bit better, because not only is it more affordable, but I feel that it makes my hair stay soft and moisturized for the few days between washes. I enjoy that both these products are extremely thick in consistency and you can feel the difference in the texture of your hair right as you wash them out.

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette

Hello lovelies!

So I cannot contain my excitement that I finally have been able to get my hands on this palette! I have legit been waiting since it came out, checking the website frequently, just to see its always sold out. So a few days ago while casually looking at instagram, I saw someone post how it was at sephora. Now my heart pretty much dropped and I raced on over to my sephora, and yup! It was there!

So I decided it would be helpful to do a bit of a review and explanation of this palette for any of you looking to get it.

I was critical that maybe this was just another fan fad, meaning that everyone is getting it, just because EVERYONE is getting it.

I was defiantly mistaken though, the consistency and pigmentation of these colors are fantastic.

Things I Could Not Put Down: May

Hello all my beautiful people. Well todays June 1st! Can you really believe it. Like I swear May went by so fast you coulda missed it in a blink!

I swear time just goes by so fast. Its so true what they say, while you're in high school time goes slow, but the second you're out of it.. the real world takes you under its wing and time just flies by. To think of all the things that happen in a month, and how quickly transitions and changes occur. And now look, all those things may not even matter, or stress you out, or you may not even be thinking about them by the time June is up.

We really need to understand that life just keeps going, regardless of you're situation. And though it may not feel like it, every moment that passes, you grow.
In a months time new experiences and lessons can be learned. Things that we may not think about today, may affect us by the end of the month. Its so unpredictable, even if you lead a predictable life.

On that note...
Summer is defiantly on its way, and I wanted to share some of my favourite items that I could not put down this past month.

Some of these are oldies but goodies, things I re-found in my collection!

MAC Blush in Peachykeen - let me tell you something, for me using this blush for as long as I've had it, I'm shocked I have not hit pan yet! This is the perfect everyday blush, it goes with so many looks. It has a slight sheen to it, but nothing to crazy. I still load up with highlighter on top. It just makes your cheeks look beautifully flushed. This baby is something that I'll keep going to for a long while.

Squeaky Clean Skin

Hello my lovelies, hope that all of you are having an amazing day! This past weekend has been a bit of a tough one, however I'm making it through.

Change is a funny thing. Humans don't adapt well to it. Even if its a good thing or bad. Not to mention that its extra stress that really we don't need. But change is inevitable. We must learn to deal with it, and come out the other side as a stronger person. No matter what.

Anyways.. thats my little ramble for the day.

Today I wanted to share my absolute favourite skincare product that I've been using for the past year and achieving great results.

Most of you have probably heard of the Clarisonic. Either the Original, Mia, or Mia 2. Now when I first heard about this product I kind of thought it was a fan fad. Meaning that its just popular because a few select individuals said that it was a great tool.

I was mistaken. This skincare tool is something I will never go without.

The Clarisonic Mia claims to deep clean 6X better than just using your hands, clears pores and reduces pore size, cleanses thoroughly so other skincare products are better absorbed, and noticeably healthier looking skin.

This system is going to benefit you regardless if its for anti-aging, acne, radiance, brightening, uneven skintone, pore size, you name it!

And for the record, yes it does all of this. There is a selection of different brush heads that range from cashmere (for the super sensitive) to normal (non sensitive skin types).

Simply put whichever cleanser you typically use on the brush head, or put directly on your face, dampen the brush and then press on! Ta da! You're on a one way road to beautiful skin, friend!

Honestly this is one of those tools that once you start, you'll always want to use it.

Keep in mind though, when you first start using it, you may notice that your skin is breaking out a bit more. Don't be alarmed though, that is because this system cleanses so deeply, that its grabbing all that gunk and bringing it to the surface. The breakouts will clear in a few uses.

You're skin is going to feel soooooooooooo soft and just look greater. Trust me when I say, you'll be addicted ;)

I honestly don't even know what I did with my skin prior to this. Besides the price point being a bit high, this system is a clear 10/10.

My favourite way to use this is with the Philosophy Purity Cleanser. Its a very gentle cleanser for my sensitive dry skin.

Following that I use the oil that I mentioned in my previous post HERE

And of course Kiel's Eyecream

Thats all my loves,

Stay tuned for more posts coming!

Facial Oils: The Benefits & Why You Should Be Using Them

Facial Oils have been a non-stop trend that came out last year, and most of us jumped on the bandwagon. The biggest misconception that we have all believed is that oil is going to clog our pores. And really who wants that? Because clogged pores lead to, well breakouts. But alas, facial oils aren't just like regular greasy oils. Dry skin, aging, and even.. oily breakout-prone skin can all benefit from facial oils. The oil provides balance to whichever skin concern you may have.

Review: LUSH Mask of Magnaminty

Hello all,

Today I wanted to talk about facial masks. I myself, love doing mask treatments. My skin is always so happy after, and my makeup glides on that much easier. We all know that what you put on your skin, (and of course diet) are the major predictors of how your skin will look on the outside. Once in awhile, your skin needs a treat to get rid of makeup clogged pores, dry dead skin, and promote cell turnover.

Cell Turnover?? Whats that you ask?! Well this is the process of when your new skin cells can reach the surface. Ever wonder how babies have smooth, plump skin? Well its because babies cells turnover about every 14 days. Now if your in your twenties, such as myself, you can expect your cells to turn over ever 30-40 days. and trust me, it continues to just get worse from there. Besides masks, regular exfoliation, or even microdermabrasion if you can afford it, promote the cell turnover process by getting rid of the dead cells, making way for the new cells to come to surface.

Okay after that little skin lesson, lets actually get into this.

Quick Tips: Making Your Lipstick Last

Oh what a tiring weekend it twas.
Minus the fact of working the entire weekend, the weathers drastic change back to gloom has got me having a case of the blues. However, one thing that always makes me think of how quickly the summer season is approaching, is bright lips. As you guys probably already have seen, if you follow me on any social media, bright lips are becoming a favourite of mine. For so long I had it in my mind that redheads simply cannot wear bright lip colours without looking, well, clown lip. I soon found that was a myth and since then have stepped out of my comfort zone many times to experiment with what colours look best. Ya know, some days you just don't want to put the effort into doing a dramatic, or smokey eye. Bold lips make you look put together, even if you aren't. Now after my ramble, I'm going to share some quick tips to make your lipstick look great and stay great all day.

So lets go, lets channel the warm weather with our lipsticks ;)

Scrub those kissers!
Lips need exfoliation just like our face, without this it can leave lipstick looking cracked and streaky. And that ain't cute girl.

Quick Tip: Curling Lashes

Are you one of the people not blessed with gorgeous curled lashes? Do your lashes droop fast just after curling and applying mascara?

Yeah? Me too.

My lashes are naturally VERY straight, and even point down for that fact, which make it incredibly hard to get those beautiful long curled lashes. Because they are so straight, they do not hold a curl at all, and barley budge when I take a curler to them. You can imagine my frustration. Mascara just doesn't look right when its on straight lashes!!

But, alas, about 7 years ago I figured out a trick that works and have been using it ever since!

Its so simple and quick you can easily incorporate it into your routine

First make sure that your eyelash curler is CLEAN, especially for this technique. It can turn into a hot mess real fast if you don't do this.

Secondly, use a straightener, or hair dryer and apply the heat to the curler for about 4-6 seconds! No longer!

Thirdly, Tests the curlers temp on the back of your hand, or wrist before putting it directly onto your eye. Metal heats very fast and I can tell you right now it is not fun to burn your eye with a curler. Learn from my mistake!

Curl as normal, you will not have to pump the curler to many times because the heat will set it faster.

And volla! A beautifully curled eyelash that will stay in place all day!

Another Tip: Using a waterproof mascara is crucial for us straight lashes kids, waterproof has more wax in it, which will help hold the curl. I have tried using regular mascara and it just droops my lash back down because of the water based formula!

If you really hate waterproof mascara try just adding a base layer, letting it dry, and then going in with a regular mascara of your choice overtop. You just need that first layer as a sealant for the curl!

Hope this helped you guys!
Comment if you've tried this method before, or have any other methods for curling lashes!

Tips for Spring 2014!!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Spring has finally come here in British Columbia. Honestly, I cannot believe how long it took this year, typically its extremely warm by March! But its finally here, and I am welcoming it with open arms!
I came up with some Spring Resolutions! We have made it through winter, where our skin is begging for hydration in the dry weather! Now its time to look how our skin handles in warmer, weather. For myself, I know my skin is ever changing. While in winter, my skin is dryer than the Sahara desert, when we transfer to Spring/Summer I see a slight increase in hydration. I can usually quit the ultra thick moisturizers around this time, and opt for something that is more lightweight, but still for dry skin.

So here it is, a little compilation of Spring Resolutions that you may want to consider!
