Tips for Spring 2014!!

Spring has finally come here in British Columbia. Honestly, I cannot believe how long it took this year, typically its extremely warm by March! But its finally here, and I am welcoming it with open arms!
I came up with some Spring Resolutions! We have made it through winter, where our skin is begging for hydration in the dry weather! Now its time to look how our skin handles in warmer, weather. For myself, I know my skin is ever changing. While in winter, my skin is dryer than the Sahara desert, when we transfer to Spring/Summer I see a slight increase in hydration. I can usually quit the ultra thick moisturizers around this time, and opt for something that is more lightweight, but still for dry skin.

So here it is, a little compilation of Spring Resolutions that you may want to consider!

1) Water - now I know that this is pretty obvious, but drinking water is so important. Not only is it going to make your skin look amazing, regardless if you have oily, dry, or combo, it is good for every part of your body. With the warmer weather coming it is even more important to keep hydrated, especially if you are going to be out in the sun. We have more opportunities being dehydrated out in the sun, then in the winter where we are typically inside. Keep up the H20 and your body will thank you!!

2) SPF - Being a natural redhead, I know the consequences of not wearing SPF pretttttty well. Not only can you burn your skin, it leaves your skin dry and scaly. And of course, theres the increase in chance of skin cancer. So protect yourself! Using at least a SPF 20-30 on your face is great. Many sunscreens on the market now are actually designed for your face, and for makeup to be applied on top. If putting sunscreen directly on your face isn't your thang, then opt for a daily moisturizer with SPF in it, or even yet a foundation.

Don't neglect your head either! Whaaaat? you say. Yes, I find the most annoying sunburns are the ones on your scalp. Not only does it leave you looking like you have dandruff, but its itchy as hell and the roots of your hair start to hurt. Wear a hat when outside. With so many different styles of hats out there, we all can find one that fits our own look. And last but not least, don't forget about the rest of your body (including lips). Even if you are wanting a tan (tan not burn), a little sunscreen is good. This will help you tan, rather than burn.

3) Try new trends - Spring is a new season, and an excellent opportunity to re-vamp your look. Be it style or makeup! Orange, berries, and glowy skin are all very in right now for Spring, be a little daring and try something different. I'm not saying you have to follow trends, just that a new season gives a chance to incorporate something different!

4) Exfoliate - even though you should be exfoliating year round, Spring is a great time to play catch up.  Get rid of all that dead skin on your body with a good exfoliate!

5) Reward yourself - our bodies lack vitamin D in the winter, which comes from the sun. Where I live a dark gloom passes over the valley during the winter, making your feel tired and unmotivated. Recharge yourself by spending time outdoors soaking up all the vitamin D from the suns rays!

6) Self-Tan - Now I know that many people enjoy laying out on the beach and letting the sun tan you naturally, however there are risks that could come from that. I prefer Self-Tanning, with tanning lotions, sprays, or whatever you choose. Theres many good quality self-tanners that mimic the look of a real tan pretty damn well. Take advantage! Not only is it faster, its a lot safer than tanning from UV rays. Plus, everyone will be jealous of how tan you look before it gets hot enough to lay out everyday ;)

And for all you students in University and College, we are almost done the semester! and for grade schools, only a couple more months and its summer! Always have that to look forward too!
